The Volcano Hybrid Issue

Volcano Hybrid

Volcano Hybrid Update:

Storz and Bickel recently released an updated ceramic filling chamber in order to remedy the issue described below. All Volcano Hybrids purchased from PuffItUp are currently shipping with the newly updated ceramic filling chamber, so it's ready to use right out of the box! If you would like to purchase the updated Volcano Hybrid, you can snag one from our store via this link!

If you purchased a Volcano Hybrid with the original filling chamber, Storz and Bickel offers a replacement filling chamber program! This link here has instructions on how to claim your replacement filling chamber from S&B. Make sure you have your Volcano Hybrid serial number on hand - you can find it on the base of your unit.

Volcano Hybrid packages with the new ceramic chamber are also now being marked with a "New ceramic-coated filling chamber" sticker on the box in order to identify units with the updated hardware.

The original issue:

A recent issue with the Volcano Hybrid has come to attention and we thought it was best to share this information as soon as possible.

The issue: The filling chamber of the volcano hybrid has an aluminum chamber which connects to an aluminum ring on top of the vaporizer. When these two parts rub together it creates a small amount of aluminum dust. S&B has recently updated their cleaning instructions to address this issue. Here is what their new user manual states: “Using a damp cloth, not dripping wet and soaked only in water, gently wipe the surface of the Heating element. This will remove leftover residue, dust or particles which could potentially enter the airstream. Clean The Heating element like this before every use” Do not over-tighten the filling chamber.

Here is a link to the new Hybrid user manual.

We are still learning about this issue and what can be done to resolve it in a more permanent manner. This information will be posted on our blog soon along with any updates we receive from Storz and Bickel. Product safety is an extremely important topic which is why we are starting this conversation now. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Our team will be around to answer any questions as best as we can. We have to give a special thanks to Troy from 420vapezone for bringing this to the public. We also have to thank the distributors working with us behind the scenes to make sure this issue is addressed. Stay tuned we will be back with more info soon.

@concernedvaper Hey hey! The manufacturer recommends not leaving the filling chamber on the unit between sessions to prevent that sort of issue. Be sure to take the filling chamber off of the Volcano when you’re finished with your session. =)

Even with the replacement inserts, the filling chamber plastic housing melts and gets deformed over time. They need to recall the entire housing chamber and the base of the unit, not just the inserts.
